Medi Whale Co. introduced their research in EuroPCR, the biggest cardiology workshop in Paris.
This annually holding workshop is mainly focused on invasive cardiac surgery. In this year, 10,987 professionals were participated and shared their individual field research.
From this workshop, Medi-Whale represented the research result of AI which can assist physician’s diagnosis and evaluation in terms of invasive cardiac surgery. This AI can conduct the part which current physicians can easily miss or ignore from prescription.
Medi-Whale will use displayed research data and plan to process the deeper research. Meanwhile, EuroPCR 2018 was ended through distinctive research presentation, seminars, and exhibition. Next EuroPCR will open on May 21st, 2019.
The 2nd Technology Investment Partnering (Tech-investment Road Show) took place at Avison Bio Medical Research Center (ABMRC) in 30th, April. It was hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and was conducted by Korea Health Industry Development Institute.
This ‘visiting investment fair’ visits occupied companies in bio-health field and host a partnering with the investment company, vitalizing the investment environment. This season it was joint hosted with ‘Severance Technology Session’ of Yonsei Medical Center.
Five occupied companies including ‘Medi Whale’, ‘BNH Research’, and ‘Shine Bio’, and eight investment institutions including ‘Korea Investment Partners’, and ‘Miraeasset’ participated. The occupied companies participated consultations with investors, from which they are expected to build an investment agreement.
Medi Whale, an occupied company, took the microphone among companies to introduce their business. Its CEO, Kevin Taegeun Choi, said “It was a pleasing opportunity to have a chance to introduce our business to investors.” The presentation received good responses from the investors which led them to the following meetings.
Medi Whale Co. introduced their first product, ‘Dr. Noon’ at the 34th Korea International Medical&Hospital Equipment Show (KIMES 2018) opened from last 15th March. KIMES 2018 was held at COEX from March 15th to 18th for four days.
KIMES, started from 1980, is the biggest medical and hospital equipment exhibition in Korea, which have led the advance of Korean medical industry. Under the slogan ‘Think the Future’, total of 1,313 companies (Korea 649, U.S. 117, China 165, Germany 90, Japan 53, Taiwan 50, Italia 25, Switzerland 17, U.K. 14, France 13) participated. Global companies including Samsung Electronics and Samsung Madison also participated the exhibition.
At the KIMES this year, Medi Whale first opened their product ‘Dr. Noon’, an AI-based eye screening examination assistant solution. The program helps basic eye examination by presenting referable eye disease risk and lesion sites analyzed through retinal fundus images via deep learning AI. Medi Whale said that they are ‘planning to expand the examination assisting field from eye diseases to cardiovascular diseases’.
Khanty-Mansiysk district and Medi Whale signed an agreement for demonstration of ‘AI eye doctor’ of Medi Whale.
Medi Whale is an AI healthcare start-up developing an eye examination software using artificial intelligence. Its AI shows accuracy over 95% screening eye diseases, proving their technical expertise.
Both parties agreed that this ‘AI eye doctor’ showing a high performance will contribute solving the medical problems of Khanty-Mansiysk district. Russia is currently having difficulty supplying medical manpower due to its low population density. With such demand, it was told that the governor of Khanty-Mansiysk made a pressing request on agreement.
Through the agreement, the ‘AI eye doctor’ will be demonstrated through local hospital and health center of Khanty-Mansiysk district. This ‘AI eye doctor’ is expected to help broader people to use medical service through eye examination system based on artificial intelligence. Only the patient with serious symptoms can meet the doctor currently. This is the first time to export and apply AI medical examination system abroad.
“This qualified AI eye examination system of Medi Whale seems to provide a huge medical benefits to our district,” Zabozlaey Aleksey, the governor of Khanty-Mansiysk district said, “further cooperation for medical device distribution is also included in the agreement.”
Medi Whale Co. and Yonsei University have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to form a strategic partnership for automatic eye screening system development using artificial intelligence(AI) technology. Under the agreement, synergistic effect of Media Whale’s advanced AI technology combined with qualified Yonsei medical staff is expected .
Google Launchpad Accelerator opened an education session about entrepreneurship, business model, market analysis, etc. 8 promising start-ups were selected to join the program through a start-up camp by National IT Industry Promotion Agency(NIPA).
The 2nd HIP Bridge Forum was successfully held on last 17th, May at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital. HIP Bridge Forum introduces potential companies in field of medical device industry. The companies can also connect with investors through Hub&Spoke networking program. The forum was sponsored by Ministry of Trade and Industry and Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology.
Along the sessions, companies of Medi Whale Inc., The Wave Talk Co., Coreline Soft Co., and Philophos Co. introduced their technology and product. Dr. Tyler Hyungtaek Rim of Medi Whale Inc. introduced their fundus image diagnosis supporting AI program for eye disease analysis. Medi Whale Inc. is developing an AI solution for diagnosis through retinal fundus images.
Medi Whale’s technology, persuading its potential, received a positive response from the investors. Other technologies of bacteria detection, lung diagnosis, and handheld OCT were also introduced to the investors.
Medi Whale Co. is Awarded the Second Place in the Medical Data Analysis Competition by Asan, MS Korea.
